How to Pay for Your Child's Private School

>> Wednesday, June 13, 2018

Scholarships

Public schools receive funding from the government, while private schools rely on grants and donations. Depending on where you live, you may find that local public schools do not receive enough funding and cannot provide as many opportunities for students as other schools can. Though you may think that you cannot afford private school, there are ways you can fund your child's education.

Tax Credits

Regardless of where you live, you can look into tax credits. Many cities and states provide residents with tax credits that allow them to save money when they send their kids to private school. You may receive a voucher that bridges the gap between the amount you can afford to spend and the price charged by the school. Parents can often deduct some of the costs associated with sending their kids to private school when they file their taxes the following year too.

Grants

While you can borrow money from your bank and use your credit cards to pay your child's tuition, you can also look at some of the educational grants that are now available. While some people think that grants are only for college students, some grants are available for younger children too. Grants essentially serve as free money for parents. You can use the funds to pay for your child's tuition as well the school uniforms required and any other supplies your kids might need.

Scholarships

The best way to pay for your child's tuition is with a scholarship. Schools across the nation offer different types of scholarships. One example is the McKay scholarships Tampa residents can apply for that cover all or a portion of their children's tuition costs. Scholarships generally fall into merit and need programs. A merit scholarship is one that goes to a child who demonstrates more merit than his or her peers. These children must pass exams and get good grades. Schools also offer need scholarships for students with a higher financial need. You can look at grants and other funding options when you need help paying private school tuition for your child.

7 Mysterious Security Features on Checks That No One Really Knows About

>> Tuesday, April 24, 2018

While the humble paper check looks pretty much the same as it did decades ago, it now hides a plethora of security features. These features make check fraud a whole lot harder. Most personal and business customers don’t have a clue about these features because most of these features are not easily observable. In this post, we attempt to demystify 7 of the most common security features and tell you why they are essential. Once you are aware of these features, you will be able to make a more informed decision when you buy cheap checks online.

Micro Printed Text: Microprinting is done using a specialized printing device. Micro printed letters appear as a straight line, too small to be read without a magnifying device. However, when magnified the letters become visible. Due to its extremely small size, it’s nearly impossible to forge the micro-printed text. A microprinted line is usually marked with a readable MP logo.

Padlock Logo: While the padlock logo itself is not a security feature, it indicates that the check is protected by a combination of at least three security measures. It acts as a deterrent as it tells criminals that the check is well protected.

Chemical/Solvent Reactive Paper: There are some solvents that can be used to remove ink from paper. A solvent or chemical reactive paper stains the surface following an attempted check fraud using solvents as erasing agents. When criminals use solvents to remove the ink, the paper reacts to the chemical and permanently changes color. This automatically voids the check.

Eraser/Coin Protection: When a check has coin protection any attempt to erase or scratch the ink results in permanent staining. The stain is usually has a contrasting color than that of the color of the check paper. Clearly visible to the bank teller, the tampered check becomes inadmissible.

Anti-Duplication Background: Traditional scanners and copiers do a great job of coping colors and other details. This is why checks come with watermarks and other backgrounds that are very difficult to be scanned and copied. These texts and images are printed in a light shade. Forging them using even the most sophisticated business and personal printers is almost impossible.

Toner-Safe Paper: When toner is used instead of ink to print on paper, the printed text can be scraped off using forging tools. The special toner-safe paper used in checks prevents this from happening. It ensures the toner sticks to the paper making it difficult to remove.

UV and Colored Fiber: To verify if a presented check is duplicate or original, tellers observe them under UV light. Original checks have special fibers that glow under the UV light making them immediately identifiable. Some checks also have un-printable colored fibers that are visible under normal light.

This is by no means a complete list. There are many proprietary security features used by different banks to keep their customers safe from check fraud. The above-mentioned features are the most common security measures adopted by most banks and third party check printing firms. Now, that you are aware of all the security features on the check you know what to look for when buying checks online or from the bank.

Three Ideas to Make Your Child's First Birthday Amazing

>> Thursday, March 8, 2018

If you're a new parent, you know how important it is to enjoy every moment in the life of your young child. If you are planning to celebrate your child's first birthday soon, you may be worrying about what to do and wondering what your options are. The truth is, your child will not remember anything about this birthday, so the entire purpose of the celebration is for the other people attending it to have a good time. Keeping that in mind, there are ways to make your child's first birthday fun for you, your child, and your guests.

Keep it Simple

One of the best ways to celebrate your child's birthday is by inviting the people who you love the most to join you for a celebratory meal. You can host this in your own home, but you are probably already too busy worrying about the difficulties of life with an infant to want to clean your house and decorate before hosting a party. Instead, find a restaurant that everyone in your family can enjoy and ask them about hosting a party for your child. For example, if your family is looking for seafood in Plano TX, consider a place like The Boiling Pots for your group. Make sure your child gets a piece of cake and keep the event short so that they don't get bored.

Party Outdoors

If the weather is right, host a party at a local park. Find out if your city allows you to rent an area in the park for your party. Otherwise, just bring a picnic and invite your friends and family. Bring your own cake. Let your kids play in the dirt and relax in nature. Don't be afraid to let your child get messy on their big day!

Have a Class Party

If your child is in daycare, ask the childcare provider if you can bring something special in for your kid's birthday. The class may sing "Happy Birthday" to them. This will make them feel special without disrupting their routine.

Expert Witnesses Establish the Real Worth of Companies

>> Wednesday, March 7, 2018

Whenever complex financial litigation arises, companies have to start preparing their case. One of the most difficult questions is proving the worth of a company. Perhaps you are in a dispute with an old partner or an employee who has a share of the company. In some instances, there may be questions about the actual value of those shares. Expert witnesses provide a smart lawyer with a resource to prove to the jury just what a company is worth. It is not enough for a company to simply guess at its valuation. Good experts ensure that there's a lack of uncertainty.

One of the complicating factors in these cases is how to deal with the accounts receivable a financial institution may have out there. If someone is challenging to own a piece of that bank, then the bank will need to prove how much it's worth. This means figuring out the likelihood that people will pay back the loans owed to that bank. Just because a bank has lent out money does not mean that people will necessarily pay it back. A substandard loan is one that's on the books technically but does not stand a great chance of being paid back. If banks have too many of these, then their value will take a hit. This can either be a good thing or a bad thing depending on why the bank needs to establish its value.

Expert witnesses can help to show that a certain type of debt is substandard. There are elements of the debtor's risk profile that show the low likelihood of repayment. An expert can come in and show that because a person has just lost his job and fallen behind twice on the loan, it means he is unlikely to pay back the debt in a timely manner. The best legal teams know that expert witnesses play well with the jury because juries are trained to think that anyone with the word "expert" in their title is an authority. The best experts combine the title with an innate ability to build trust.

3 Benefits of Investing in a Car Bubble

>> Thursday, February 15, 2018

Superweave Custom Car Cover
Even if you store your vehicle inside, you would be amazed at how many potential dangers still exist in a garage. That is why many owners of vintage and customized vehicles have invested in a car storage bubble. It is an extra layer of protection that provides you with further peace of mind.

1. It Keeps Your Car Dry

Excessive condensation can build up in your garage. This moisture causes pitting and discoloration. If you have any chrome plates, then those will begin to rust. The chances of this increase if you live in a humid climate. Californians near the coast need to be particularly wary. Fortunately, a car bubble comes with an evaporative storage system that changes the air inside three or four times every hour. This eliminates moisture while keeping the internal temperature consistent.

2. It Protects Your Vehicle From Pollen and Dust

It is rare for garages to be fully hermetically sealed. In a vast majority of cases, your car will still be susceptible to dust settling. Opening a garage door even for a few seconds allows outside contaminants to get inside. As time goes on, the paint job will look faded and dull instead of glossy. Every car storage bubble comes with a 100 percent nylon zipper that keeps everything from dust to rodents outside where they belong.

3. It Protects Against Damage From Other Objects in Your Garage

Chances are high you keep more than just your car in your garage. Sports equipment, a lawnmower and bicycles can all topple over and scratch your vehicle. Fortunately, car bubbles are constructed out of durable PVC. It will not tear after a mild abrasion. You could even drop a five-pound hammer on the bubble, and it will remain intact.

You invest a lot to maintain your car, so it only makes sense to protect your investment with bubbles or custom car covers. California Car Cover has a wide range of products to protect all kinds of vehicles.

Save Time and Money on Your Grocery Shopping

>> Wednesday, February 14, 2018

One of the biggest expenses facing many families is the weekly grocery bill. Not only is it outrageously expensive, but it continues to increase as the children grow up and eat more and more. This is especially true for anyone with teenagers. That is why it is so important to do everything you can to stretch your food budget dollar.

New glued pads
The Grocery List

Before shopping, create a grocery list. You can type up a standard list with all of the items you buy weekly along with blank spaces for extras. Keep it organized according to the way you shop the store’s aisles. Keep a memo pad on your kitchen counter where family members can write down things as they run out. Inexpensive wholesale custom notepads from retailers like USA Custom Pad work nicely. Add items from the pad to your list. Grocery lists help you avoid impulse items.

Create a Weekly Menu

Take the time to sit down and make out a menu that includes a meal for every night of the week. As you decide what to make throughout the coming days, jot the ingredients you’ll need down on your grocery list. A menu allows you to have a clear vision of what food is needed without over buying or having to run back to the store mid-week. Every time you enter a grocery store you are opening yourself up to impulse purchases. Keeping these trips to one per week saves money.

Reward Programs

Take advantage of store reward programs as well as credit card rewards. Stores often give rewards that can be used towards future purchases, a discount on gas, or for exclusive sales. Paying for the bill with a credit card will quickly earn you airline miles, hotel points, or cash back, but you have to make sure you are paying off your statement in full each month. Carrying a balance defeats the purpose of any rewards they give you.

By following these tips you can save extensively on your weekly grocery bill. It is time consuming, but it is so worth it in the end. Use the extra savings to build your savings account, go on the annual family vacation, or to help out with any number of other household expenses.

Things to Consider When Buying Cars for Engineering Firms

>> Tuesday, January 30, 2018

Sponsored Post

I work for an Engineering Consulting firm which caters to government and private clients. We have various projects on detailed design and construction supervision of roads, bridges, flyovers and related projects. As these projects entails frequent site visits for surveys and field investigations we’re required to provide several cars for ease of access to site and fast tracking of work progress. As such we always have a need to designate vehicles to every project according to our client’s requirements. Since my work pertains to administrative works I’m very much aware of how the company chooses the vehicle for every contracted project.

There are things to consider when buying cars for our projects which became our main criteria also whenever we need to purchase when a project starts.

Budget. It should not be too expensive as the company will need more vehicles for operations. There are vehicles that are suited for field work and heavy loads which will not hurt your budget. Company vehicles for field work need not be as glamorous as it will only be used for work.

Size and Capacity. These two are very important when you need a car for location work because the car needs to carry equipment and gadgets to remote site. It will also carry a group of staff to do the work. It will have to carry it all in one round as travel is usually a long trip for site workers.

Safety Features. As in every field and walks of life protection should be ensured so we need to choose vehicles that have the best secured features and capabilities to take our Engineers to their site location safely without worries. Make sure that before purchasing your desired car it should undergo hands-on tests of its safety features.

For help in choosing the perfect car for our company’s need we can check out online sites like cars.com  for the cars that we need if we don’t have time to go around car dealers on foot. It’s easier and we can compare brands and prices easily.

Consider All-Weather Tires

It’s essential to check your tire tread is in good shape before going on your winter road trip. If you tread is looking worn, it’s important to change your tires before you go. Make sure you also know the proper technique for driving in the snow and ice to keep your family safe.

Protect Your Paint Job

Road salt can seriously ruin your car’s paint job, and even lead to corrosion. Luckily, you can buy a paint-on sealant which will protect your car from salt and grit during your road trip. Ask your local mechanic for their best recommendation for your specific car model.
